What is Social Security Death Benefit?

The social security death benefit is a monetary contribution of N$4500.00 paid by the government to assist with the funeral of a pensioner or someone who was receiving a government pension or social security benefits /grants.

The survivor/ next of kin of the deceased may submit a claim for funeral assistance at the Ministry of Labour Industrial Relations and Employment Generation.

All registered pensioners and people who received social security benefits from the government.

The next of kin / survivor of the deceased may submit such a claim at the Ministry of Labour in person. 

The family must take along with them to Ministry of Labour the following documents:

  • Death Certificate
  • Removal / Burial Order
  • Medical Causes of death
  • Identity document of deceased
  • Identity document of claimant

Please take along 3x certified copies of each document.

The claim must be done as soon as the death is registered.
